Disney agrees US$18 an hour wage deal with Florida union

A union representing around 45,000 Disney employees has reached a deal with the company to pay its employees a minimum wage of US$18 per hour.

A union representing around 45,000 Disney employees has reached a deal with the company to pay its employees a minimum wage of US$18 per hour.

The Service Trades Council Union said that the higher wages were in line with increased inflation, and that back pay of workers over 210 days had also been secured.

According to the STCU, every worker affected will be able to receive a US$5.50 an hour wage increase over the terms of the agreement.

“With the support of the unions, we anticipate cast members will approve this new agreement,” said Jeff Vahle, president of Disney World, in a statement.
